Meanwhile, Toyota’s Sami Pajari is gearing up for one of the toughest tests of his career as he tackles the legendary Safari

As the 2025 Safari Rally rolls around on Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 March, it could mark a special milestone for the Solberg family – the chance for back-to-back World Rally Championship (WRC) victories.

Oliver Solberg is gunning for WRC2 glory in his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, walking in the footsteps of his father Petter, who took victory in Mexico after a bruising battle in Sweden two decades ago.

He renews rivalry with Skoda Fabia RS rival Gus Greensmith with the Kenyan contingent led by reigning African champion Karan Patel in a Skoda Fabia as well. Also in competition will be Kenyan legend Carl Tundo in a Ford Fiesta.

Jeremiah WahomeHamza Anwar, who has upgraded from the WRC 3 class, Samman Singh, Aakif Virani, Nikhil Sachania and Jasmeet Chana are the other Kenyans in the WRC 2 category.

Meanwhile, Toyota’s Sami Pajari is gearing up for one of the toughest tests of his career as he tackles the legendary Safari.

The 23-year-old Finn, contesting his first full season in a GR Yaris Rally1, is relishing the opportunity to take on the punishing African terrain.

But after opening his campaign on the asphalt of Rallye Monte-Carlo and the frozen forests of Rally Sweden, round three presents an entirely new challenge.

The season has started with some very specific rallies,” Pajari acknowledged. “So it’s not been easy, but so far we have done some nice stage times and had many positive moments, and hopefully it can continue like this in Kenya"

He was in Kenya for recce last year and has a bit of knowledge of what awaits him, and he acknowledges the challenge the terrain presents.

The target is just to gain as much experience as we can, but we’re also there to do our best and in a rally like this, anything can happen. It will be tough, but I’m looking forward to the challenge," he told WRC.com.
